MFA is a more secure way to log-in to your online account. Historically, we’ve asked users to authenticate themselves by logging in with their username and password. MFA adds additional authentication steps to the login process in order to offer you more protection.

You’re probably already familiar with this process as MFA is a security best practice used by many leading financial and technology companies.

  • When you log-in with your username and password, you’ll also be asked to provide a one-time passcode (OTP).
  • Think of the passcode as a temporary PIN needed to complete the log-in process. Once you choose how to receive the passcode (text, voice call, email, authenticator app) it will be sent to you so you can access your online account.

MFA can be set-up so that you only have to present a passcode for verification once every 90 days. When you’re logging in from your personal device, select the option to have your device remembered so that you don’t have to complete MFA for future log-ins.

For your security, MFA is mandatory once every 90 days. It’s also mandatory when you’re using a new device or browser, and when you’re making certain account changes (such as resetting a password).
