Fund Information

Franklin Bissett Money Market Yield Class *

INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE
The Fund intends to achieve its objective primarily by investing in Canadian equity securities and entering into forward contracts or other permitted derivatives in order to provide the Fund with a return determined with reference to the performance of a money market fund managed by the Manager. The Fund expects that the earnings derived from these transactions will be treated as capital gains, and if distributed to shareholders, will be capital gains dividends for tax purposes. Alternatively, where, in the opinion of the portfolio advisor, the after tax returns do not outweigh the costs of using the derivative strategy, the Fund may primarily invest directly in money market securities. In these circumstances, the Fund expects that the earnings generated will be interest income within the Corporate Class structure.

WHY INVEST IN THIS SOLUTION?

Tax-efficient fixed income investments. Unlike most fixed income investments, yield class returns are taxed as capital gains rather than interest income.

Fixed income-type performance. Through use of forward contracts, each yield class delivers performance similar to its respective fixed-income reference fund.

Important Notice: The March 21, 2013 federal budget proposes new rules which would eliminate the tax benefits associated with the character conversion transactions used in Yield Class mutual funds.
