We are value investors
We look for stocks selling at prices that are low compared to our assessment of their true
worth. We find undervalued companies by analyzing their financial and competitive positions
and talking to their managers. We look for companies that can be strong competitors in their
industry and around the world.
We are long-term investors
At Templeton, investing is a long-term proposition. The average time we hold a stock is five
years. That is a long-term commitment. We recommend that you approach your investments
in the same way.
We invest in individual companies
We build the portfolios in each of the Templeton Funds by looking for the best individual
companies we can find, wherever they may be. We are not guided by the overall outlook for
particular industry sectors or countries, or trends in commodity prices. But by concentrating
on the best companies, we end up with a combination of strong holdings across different
industries and in different countries. Portfolio diversification, one of the most effective ways
to reduce risk without sacrificing the potential for capital gains, comes as a direct result of
our bottom-up style of selecting stocks.
